David Greiner

Mr. David G. Greiner, 63, of Altoona, Pa, died at 9:00 PM, Sunday, October 2, 2016 at UPMC - Altoona unexpectedly after an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Greiner was born in Altoona, Pa on September 22, 1953, son of the late Leo G. and Rosella M. (Leipold) Greiner.

He was a Night Auditor at Clarion Suites Motel in Altoona with 16 years of service. He previously was a Night Auditor at Holiday Inn Express.

He was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church Altoona where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and usher.

David was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and in a 1973 graduated from Altoona School of Commerce with an Associate Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He was a member of William Penn Association and served as secretary of Branch 0800and Pennsylvania Drum Corps Hall of Fame. He was a past Staff Writer for Drum Corps World and past member of Gardner Guards. He enjoyed Country Music, especially Kathy Mattea, Bishop Guilfoyle sports, especially basketball and football, Pittsburgh Pirates and Altoona Curve baseball.

He is survived by 2 brothers Dennis P. Greiner and Daniel Greiner both of Altoona, with whom he resided.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona, Pa at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 7, with Fr. Lubomir J. Strecok officiating.

Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.

Friends will be received Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM and Thursday October 6, 2016 from 4 -8 PM at Jones Funeral Home were a Vigil Fot the Deceased will be held Wednesday at 5:15 PM.
