Jacob Spahn, Jr.

Jacob G. Spahn Jr., 89, of Altoona, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at UPMC Altoona. Born on June 2, 1933, Roaring Spring, son of the late Edith (Bell) and Jacob Spahn Sr. He married Arlene Frederick on January 3, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona. Surviving are his two children, Randy (Dena) Spahn; and Lori (Dave) Cumming; daughter-in-law, Tina Spahn, all of Altoona; grandchildren, Timothy Spahn II, Lindsey (Michael) Beeney, Lauren (Tyler) Weaver, Jared and Alyssa Cumming; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and James Beeney; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Timothy Spahn Sr.; and brother, Oren Spahn. Jacob was a graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School. He was worked for Vincent Horwitz Shoe Factory and Calvary Cemetery. He also worked at his son’s business, Tim Spahn’s Landscaping, along with, Palminos Pizza. Jacob was the co-owner of Spahn Accounting and Tax Service with his wife Arlene. He was a lifelong member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a member of Casey Jones Locomovers Camping Club. Jacob enjoyed gardening and helping his wife decorate their home for all seasons, especially Christmas. He was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan. He also enjoyed Curve Baseball and watching Westerns on TV. Friends and family will be received Friday, April 28, 2023 from 6-9 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11 a.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1405 5th Ave., Altoona, Fr. L’ubomír J. Strečok, celebrant. Committal Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E.
