James Davidson

Mr. James E. "Jim" Davidson, 90 of Graystone Apartments, 1101 Flamingo Dr. Apt. 5000, Altoona died unexpectedly Friday, August 19, 2016 at UPMC Altoona.

Mr. Davidson was born in Altoona on January 23, 1926, son of the late John H. and lda (Eberly) Davidson. He married Jane T. Hallinan April 19, 1952 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

He retired in 1989 as a Professional Engineer/Manager of Distribution Engineering at Penelec with 40 years of service He was licensed by the State of Pennsylvania.

He was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona, Pa, where he served as Reader, Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Finance Committee. He was also a recipient of the Gallitzin Cross Award.

Jim was a 1943 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and attended Penn State. He was a member of American lnstitute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Knights of Columbus Council 551, Bavarian Aid Society and Ancient Order of Hibernians. Jim enjoyed visiting his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, bowling, golfing, playing cards and being Santa Claus.

He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sgt. in WWll serving in the Burma - lndia Theatre. He received the American Campaign Medal, Asitic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and WWll Victory Medal.

He is survived by his wife and 4 children Kathy (Greg) Clemens, of Altoona, Pa; Dr. James (Darlene) Davidson, of Mahaffey, Pa; Jane (Brian) Reifsteck, of Lexington, NC; and Sally Davidson, of Altoona, Pa. Jim is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Dodson and a brother Joseph Davidson.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, with Msgr. Robert C. Mazur officiating.

Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.

Friends will be received from 3 - 8 PM Monday at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
