Molly H. Shaffer

Molly H. Shaffer, 85, Altoona, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Cedarwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Tyrone. Born February 8, 1938, Altoona, daughter of the late George H. and Helen H. (Carroll) Mitterer. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph E. Shaffer; son, Stephen J. Shaffer; and siblings, Leon Mitterer and Carol Corrado. Survived by her four children, Kathryn Clinger, Altoona; David (Sherry) Shaffer, Cresson; John (Susan) Shaffer, NC; and Paula (Kevin) Kirchner, Lancaster; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie (Shawn), Emily, Amalie, Derek, Mindy, Katte, Chelsea, Nathan, Ashlyn and Maddie; 3 great-grandsons, Evan, Kole and Ezra; brother, Dan (Robin) Mitterer, MS; sister, Marci (Dennis) Zeigler, York; and numerous nieces and nephews. Molly was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, Altoona. She retired from Mellon Bank in March of 2000, where she worked as a secretary in the trust department. Molly enjoyed swimming, walking, reading and playing Mahjong with Marlene and Jean. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.  At Molly's request, there will be no visitation. A private funeral service will be held at Jones Funeral Home, 1222 13^th Ave, Altoona, Rev. Brian Norris officiating. Inurnment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
