Patrick Cooney

Mr. Patrick Joseph Cooney, 53 of Hollidaysburg passed away Friday morning May 19, 2017 at UPMC Altoona.

Mr. Cooney was born in Baltimore, MD on October 2, 1964, a son of Thomas Dolan and June (Wolfe) Cooney, Sr.

Mr. Cooney was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.

He also attended the Adult Developmental Program with Family Services since 1993 and was with Family Service for 41 years. He previously worked for Skills, Inc.

Patrick graduated in 1986 from the Altoona Area High School - IU 8 program. He was a member of the Wolf Pack Outdoor Club. He enjoyed outtings with the Family Service staff and visiting his family, puzzles, fishing, bowling, leafing through magazines, nature walks with Tim and shopping with Steve.

In addition to his parents, Patrick is survived by three siblings, Thomas Dolan Cooney, Jr. of Altoona; Timothy H. Cooney of Waltham, MA; and Renee K. Patrick. He is also survived by two nephews, Justin and Alexander Cooney, a niece Amber Cooney and two special caregivers, Steve Furio and Tim Hale.

He will be greatly missed, especially by the Family Services staff who looked after his well-being.

Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held during the visitation.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
