Retired Tec. Sgt. William F. Gibson, 80, of Altoona, Pa, died at Approx 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 1, 2015 at his residence, unepectedly.
Retired Tec Sgt. Gibson was born in Bronx, NY. on June 19, 1934, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Ferguson) Gibson. He married Doris A. Gipprich June 5, in Winchester, VA. She died October 22, 2000.
He retied in 1979 as a Medic at VanZandt VA Medical Center, Altoona with 8 years of service. Previously he retired from USAF as a Tec Sargent with 20 years of service.
He attented St. Mark's Catholic Church Altoona, Pa.
William was a 1951 graduate of Gompers High School, Bronx, NY. and a 1981 graduate of Penn State University. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lifetime member of the Bavarian Aid Society and a social member of Newburg Voolunteer Fire Association. Bill enjoyed playing golf and cards.
Bill is survived by a son Paul A. Gibson of Seattle, Washington and a stepson Kenneth J. Gipprich of Bellwood, Pa. 2 grandaughters and 4 great grantchildren, a sister Grace A. Castricone (husband Daniel) of Ocala, FL and a bother Thomes Gibson of Utica, NY. Bill was preceded in death by 2 sister Margaret (Gibson) Newell and Elizabeth (Gibson) Pollack.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 9, 2015 at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Altoona, Pa. with Fr. Ronald V. Osinski officiating.
Committal Rites will be held at Calvery Cemetery Altoona, Pa.
Friends will be received Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
