Samuel Luke Kokolis, 82, Duncansville, passed away January 7, 2024 at his home. Born October 11, 1941, Graceton, Indiana County, son of the late Nicholas and Susan (Bondra) Kokolis. Survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Judith “Judy” (Benamati), whom he married on October 12, 1963; son, Kevin Kokolis; granddaughter, Emory Kokolis; brother, Thomas (Luanne) Kokolis; sister, Barbara Rado; sisters-in-law, Beverly Kokolis, Martha and Peggy Benamati; brother-in-law, Melvin Benamati; son-in-law, Jeffrey (Carolina) Moran; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Moran; brother, Edward Kokolis; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Gazza, Kate and Rose Benamati; and brothers-in-law, Michael Rado, Marino Gazza, Thomas, Angelo “Pete” and Joseph Benamati. Sam graduated in 1959 from the former Laura Lamar High School, Homer City. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of St. Francis University, Loretto. Sam was an Army veteran, serving from 1963-1966. He worked as a claims adjuster and supervisor at State Farm Insurance Company for over 30 years. He then worked at Circuit City for 10 years until the stores closed. Sam enjoyed cooking, baking, water walking and having coffee with his “Y” friends. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Sam was always proud that he had been able to attend one of the Steelers Super Bowl games. He followed the Pirates and Penguins and was an Altoona Curve season ticket holder, until his health issues prevented him from participating. Sam was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, where he was a former Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Finance Council. He recently had been attending St. Mary’s and St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Churches in Hollidaysburg. At Sam’s request, all services are private at the convenience of the family, Msgr. Stanley Carson celebrant. Interment, St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona; St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.
