Steven Kruise

Steven M. Kruise, 59, Altoona, died Friday afternoon at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, after an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Richard J. and Hilda (Zinhobi) Kruise.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sandra Grove of Altoona; Sandra Grove's children: Shem (Casey) Grove and Sarissa Grove; the light of his life, a granddaughter, Amarra Grove; three brothers: Richard J. (Debra) Kruise, Thomas J. (Karen) Kruise and Terrance D. (Sandra) Kruise, all of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews and their families, who loved him very much.

He was preceded in death by a brother James J. Kruise.

Steve was a 1977 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He retired in 2000 as a furniture deliveryman at Fiore Furniture, Altoona, with 20 years of service. He also worked at Weis Market.

Steven was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. He enjoyed hunting, Santa Clauses, eagles, watching Western movies and volunteering at a food pantry.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at Jones Funeral Home, where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held during the visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, with Monsignor Robert C. Mazur officiating. Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
