Mr. William R. Schultz Sr. 86 of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Duncansville, formerly of 811 N. 3rd St. Altoona died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at UPMC - Altoona, Altoona.
Mr. Schultz Sr. was born in Altoona on December 28, 1928, son of the late John M. and Helen (Bonner) Schultz Sr. He married Mary Ellen Maher June 19, at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Altoona. She died October 4, 2004.
He retired in 1991 as a Carman at Conrail with 20 years of service. Previously he worked at Gables Department Store for 20 years.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church Altoona, Pa.
Bill was a graduate of Altoona High School and a graduate of Altoona School of Commerce in 1952. He was a member of Juniata VFW (Fort Apache) and Pennsylvania National Guard Association. He enjoyed wallpapering, old movies and Notre Dame and Bishop Guilfoyle Football.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt in WWll, receiving World War ll Victory Medal and Army Occupation Medal - Japan.
He is survived by 3 children Deborah A. Schultz, and Thomas M. (Sharon) Schultz, both of Altoona, Pa. and William R. (Lisa) Schultz Jr. of Hollidaysburg, Pa. 3 Grandchildre Jennifer Pellegrino, of Altoona, Pa. Evan Schultz, and Clarice Schultz, both of Hollidaysburg, Pa 2 Great Grandson Aiden Pellegrino, and Noah Pellegrino. Mr. Schultz is also by a sister Gertrude Nycum of Hollidaysburg, Pa. and a bother Richard Schultz of West Patterson, NJ. He was preceed in death by a daughter Diane M. Butch and 5 siblings Helen Marie Waite, Harriet Schultz, John M. Schultz Jr. Robert Schultz and Giles Schultz.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday , May 9, 2015 Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Altoona, with Fr. D. Timothy Grimme officiating.
The Interment will be private at convenience of the Family at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.
At the family request there will be no visitation.
