Barbara Shoemaker

Barbara R. (Curran) Shoemaker, 78, of Altoona, died at 5:50 AM, Wednesday, August 25, at Raystown.

She was born in Altoona, on March 7, 1943, daughter of the late William R. and Maxine P. (Edmiston) Curran. She married John F. “Jack” Shoemaker June 13, 1964 at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Altoona.

Barbara retired in 2005 as a Teller at Citizens Bank, Altoona with 30 years of service.

She was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona, Pa.

Barbara was a 1961 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School. She was member of the Girls Card Club and enjoyed crocheting, decorating, reading, swimming, football and boating.

Barbara is survived by her husband and 2 children Christine R. (Jim) Bowser of Altoona, and John J. “Jeff” Shoemaker, of Hollidaysburg, 3siblings Pamela A. (Mike) Meador, of Summerfield, FL; William D. (Debbie) Curran, of Altoona, and Diane L. (Joe) Nagle, of Concord, NC; 2 brothers-in-Law Joseph E. (Yougcha) Shoemaker, of Duncansville, and Robert M. Shoemaker, of State College, Pa. Barbara is also survived by 4 grandchildren Lily M. Bowser, Matthew W. Bowser, Sydney C. Shoemaker and Samantha T. Shoemaker.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, Pa at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 30, 2021 with Msgr. Stanley B. Carson officiating.

Committal Rites will be at Green Lawn Cemetery Hollidaysburg.

Friends will be received from 2-6 PM Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Jones Funeral Home, Altoona where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
