Mr. Charles James “Charlie” Craig, 83, of DuBois, Pa, died at 7:55 AM, Friday, September 13, 2019 at Christ The King Manor, DuBois, Pa after an extended illness.

Mr. Craig was born in Altoona, Pa on June 21, 1936, son of the late William Francis and Edna (Farabaugh) Craig. He married Nancy Ellen Bouey June 12, 1971 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona.

He retired November 1999 as a Firefighter with the rank of Captain at City of Altoona with 35 years service. Previously he worked the Juniata Silk Mill.

He was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona, Pa.

Charlie was 1954 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a member of the Bavarian Aide Society, Notre Dame Club and the Unter Uns. He enjoyed remodeling, bowling, traveling, swimming, gardening, his family, Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School. Ahtletics and all Pittsburgh Sports. He delivered “Meals on Wheels” and enjoyed helping others with a smile and a pat on the back. Charlie was a devoted son to his mother, Edna, a wonderful and loving husband to his wife, Nancy and a warm caring father to his son, Sean and Frank.

Charlie is survived by his wife and two sons Frank Craig, Altoona, Pa; and Sean wife Robin Craig, of DuBois, Pa; 2 granddaughters Ellie & Harper Craig; 7 siblings Ann Marie “Sis” Rhodes, of Hollidaysburg, Pa; Janet Gensamer, of Altoona, Pa; Joan husband Joe Wills, of Curwensville, Pa; Dick wife Peggy Craig, of Washington, Pa; Don wife Vickie Craig, of Altoona, Pa; Judy husband Ted Baird, of Altoona, Pa; Vince wife Joann Craig, of York, Pa; Sister-in-law Nancy Craig, of Wilmington, DE. Charlie was preceded in death by 3 brothers Bob, Bill and his wife Ann, Jack and his wife Sally Craig.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, Pa at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 17, 2019.

Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.

Friends will be received Monday, September 16,2019 from 4-8 PM at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School Athletic Association 2400 Pleasant Valley Blvd Altoona, Pa 16601.
