Edward Johnson

Edward R. Johnson, 81, Altoona, died Sunday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center after a brief illness. He was born in Philadelphia, son of the late Harry F. and Dorothy Johnson.

He retired in August 2012, as an over the road truck driver at K.L. Clark Express with over 40 years of service.

Ed was of the Catholic faith.

He was a 1956 graduate of Tehachapi High School in Tehachapi, Calif., and received a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University. He was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, OOIDA (Owner-Operator Independent Association) and the Navy League.

Ed served in the U.S. Marines from 1956-59.

He is survived by a friend, Pauline R. Marzo of Altoona.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, Altoona, with Father D. Timothy Grimme, celebrant.

Interment at the convenience of the family will be held at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.

Friends will be received from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday March 13, 2021, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, Altoona.

Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home, Altoona.
