Frederick Drexler

Frederick J. “Fred” Drexler, 68, of Altoona, passed away Friday in Altoona after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Carl W. Sr. and Gwendolyn G. (Rogers) Drexler.

Fred was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. He was employed by the church as head maintenance man before his cancer diagnosis forced him to retire in 2018 with 48 years of service.

He was a 1972 graduate of Altoona Area High School. Fred especially enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones. He was an avid Pittsburgh and Penn State fan who also enjoyed bowling in numerous leagues.

Surviving are two daughters, Karla A. (Greg) Drexler-Pett of Fayetteville, Pa. and Dawn R. Drexler of Altoona; fiancee of 31 years, Renee J. Bruno of Altoona; two grandchildren, Logan G. Drexler and Kylie P. Pett; a stepson, Barton J. Kitt; six siblings: Mary Louise Parker of Seaford, Del.; Edward R. (Patty) Drexler, George M. Drexler, Steven J. Drexler and Thomas E. (Shari) Drexler, all of Altoona; and Dwight D. (Trudy) Drexler of State College.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl W. Drexler Jr.; a sister-in-law, Melvina “Cookie” Drexler; and a brother-in-law, James Parker.

At Fred’s request, there will be no visitation or services. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Altoona.

Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home, Altoona.
