Lawrence Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald, Lawrence J., 74, Altoona, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at his home. Born April 4, 1949, Manhattan, New York, son of the late Joe and Mary Jane (Kling) Fitzgerald. Survived by his daughter, Nicole (Harold) Kertes, Mechanicsburg; son, Lawrence (Teresa) Fitzgerald Jr., Harrisburg; 4 granddaughters, Hannah, Sydney, Isabella and Micayla; and sisters, Linda (Pete) DeMarco; and Maureen (Sam) Stever, both of N.C. Lawrence was a graduate of Altoona High School. He retired after 38 years of service as a machinist at Norfolk Southern Railroad. Lawrence enjoyed riding his Harley and talking with people on his CB Radio, his handle was Desperado. He was a member of the Horseshoe Curve Harley Owners Group. He was an avid collector of knives and black powder guns. Most importantly, he cherished his time spent with his granddaughters and his two Boxers, Cinder and Jack. Friends and family will be received Friday, May 19, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m., Jones Funeral Home, Msgr. Stanley Carson celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Judes Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
