Nicholas (Nick) E. Lynam, 74, of Orchard Park, NY passed away on September 2nd, 2020 at Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, NY following a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Nick was born on June 24, 1946 in Altoona, PA to Nicholas E. Lynam Jr. and Helen L. (nee Kelley) Lynam.  He was the oldest of six siblings.

After moving to Hamburg, NY Nick graduated from Hamburg High School in 1964 and then attended Carnegie-Mellon University, receiving his B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1968.  Upon graduation Nick went to work for Pure Oil Division of Union Oil of California (UNOCAL) in Schaumburg, IL.  After an assignment in California, Nick was promoted to Vice President and returned to Schaumburg where he remained until he took early retirement.  He then became CEO of a small chemical company in Cincinnati for several years.  After his second retirement Nick relocated to north Georgia and settled on a mountaintop near Cleveland.  It was here that Nick put his woodworking skills to work, re-finishing old furniture and doing community projects in the local area. He was recognized as quite the craftsman by friends, neighbors, and members of his local church, The Torch.  In 2017 Nick moved to Hamburg, NY to be near family living in the area.

Surviving are his wife, Diane Lynam, three children, Nicholas, Douglas, and Michael from a previous marriage, two adopted children, Alex and Abbey, six grandchildren, and three sisters and a brother: Mary Anne (Doug) Frank, Christine (Nick) Della Penta, Barbara (Ed) Habicht, and Michael Lynam, , and many nieces and nephews.  Nick was pre-deceased by his parents and a sister, Sally Lynam.
