Peter M. Rossi

Peter Michael Rossi, 74, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2022 at his home. Born May 1, 1948, DuBois, son of the late Anthony L. and Maybelle M. (Mater) Rossi. Survived by his wife, Barbara J. (Rafacz), whom he married on May 25, 1974 in Huntingdon; son, Jacob J. Rossi, at home; and brother Anthony L. Rossi, DuBois. Peter was a 1966 graduate of Dubois Central Catholic High School. He then attended Penn State University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1970 and his master’s degree in International Politics in 1973. Peter worked for Newborn Enterprises as a book buyer and bookstore supervisor from 1973-1996, he then retired as the history sales manager after 12 years of service for Stackpole Books in Mechanicsburg, and then was an emergency substitute teacher for 10 years at the Intermediate Unit 8 in Altoona. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament where he served as an usher, Foreign Policy Association in Harrisburg, and the American Philatelic Society. Peter enjoyed reading, politics and stamp collecting. Friends and family will be received Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 4-7 p.m., Jones Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 9:30 a.m., Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1 Cathedral Square, Altoona, PA 16601, Msgr. Stanley B. Carson celebrant.
