Rita Yingling

Rita L. Yingling, 73, of Tyrone, passed away surrounded by family at her residence Saturday after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Joseph C. and Angela C. (Zajac) Hrzic.

She was previously married to Lee J. Yingling Sr.

Rita retired as a health receptionist at Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona with 25 years of service. She had previously worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Nason Hospital in Roaring Spring.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona.

Rita was a 1966 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School and a graduate of Altoona Vo-Tech. She loved her family, and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and adored her cats.

Surviving are two children, Lee J. (Marjie) Yingling Jr. of Tyrone and Pamela J. (John) Walters of Altoona. Rita is also survived by seven grandchildren: Samantha (Calvin) Yon, Matthew (Brooke) Yingling, Makayla (Abbie) Adams, Brittney Yingling, Hailey Walters, Josh (Stacey) Walters and Chelsea Walters; six great-grandchildren: Jaxon, EM, Avery, Maddox, Olivia and Mavis. She is survived by one bother, Stephen (Cherrilyn); and two sister; Judy and Barb (Greg) all of Altoona. Rita is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.

Rita was preceded in death by an infant brother, Billy.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Bellwood Eagles, 432 S. First St., Bellwood.

There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home, Altoona.
